Beecome invites you to take part in the beekeeping project at Hackney City Farm. There are activities for every taste (generally sweet), ability, and lots of varied interests.

Honey tasting session! What is honey, how it is made, where does it come from and how does it get to your breakfast table. The uses of honey for healthy eating and living.
Wednesday 20 February
More products of the hive. Beeswax cosmetics: make your own beauty treatment.
Wednesday 27 February
Bees and wildlife in inner cities and in the countryside. Bees and non bees; solitary and social bees; pollination and hybrids/GM crops. Planting for wildlife.
Wednesday 5 March
A first look inside the hive. Introduction to the life cycle of the honey bee.
Wednesday 12 March
Get active. Build hive parts and make candles
Wednesday 19 March
Build a hive! At the end of the sessions we will place the hive in a secluded spot on the farm grounds, to be populated in May with a new swarm.
Costs
The sessions form an introductory course at the special price of £60; the fee includes 6 sessions, with practical activities, and goodies to take away at the end.
